On the northern edge of town, this is an acceptable standby, if you can forgive some flag-
rant omissions in the brochure and on the website. Sure, it's almost 'two steps away from
the lagoon', but there's no mention of the noisy highway in between! The whole place
feels a bit cramped, especially the coffin-sized rooms; it's worth dropping the extra €15 to
grab a more spacious studio.

St-Leu's best bargains, though the 'Palais' bit is a gross misnomer. It's comfortably cent-
ral, with minimally furnished but functional rooms. And no, that icon's not a misprint - it
really does have its own (tiny) swimming pool. Prices drop to €35 to €40 for stays longer
than two nights.

On the southern edge of town there's great value to be found at this clean, friendly and
well-run venture. It consists of six bungalows with partial sea views. They're spacious,
practical and well kitted out. There's no beach nearby, but guests can chill by the lovely
pool. Three nights minimum.
