INTERNET ACCESS
A growing number of hotels and guesthouses have wireless internet connections, but usu-
ally only in public areas, not rooms. Remember also that this is not an island of high-
speed connections.
One public place with free (if slow) wireless access is outside the Alfred Northcoombs
Building in central Port Mathurin. Among other tenants, it's home to the Rodrigues Regional
Library which offers free wi-fi - hence the laptop-toting locals camped outside.
For an internet cafe with the usual slow connections, try Rotourco ( Click here ) .
MONEY
Most of the island's banks are in Port Mathurin and flank Rue Max Lucchesi. Mont Lubin
and La Ferme also have banks, and there's an ATM at the airport. For exchange rates,

Getting There & Away
AIR
The island's main Air Mauritius office ( 831 1632; fax 831 1959; Rue Max Lucchesi, ADS Bldg) is in
Port Mathurin. There is also an office at the airport ( 832 7700) , which is open for all ar-
rivals and departures. It's a good idea to phone the airline the day before you leave any-
way, just to make sure there's been no change to the schedule. There are six flights a day
