the quality you'll find elsewhere on the island.

a unique design and theme. Our favourite was the adorable honeymooners' cottage with
stone walls and attached gazebo covered with gingerbread trim.

colourful paintings abound at this very casual guesthouse on the road towards Jean Tac.
Guests congregate in the sociable eating area tucked under tin roofing and drooping laun-
dry lines. Colourful paintings on the walls spruce up the otherwise Spartan bedrooms. It's
an additional Rs 600 per person for half board.

Françoise Baptiste who runs La Belle Rodriguaise, this four-room guesthouse was due to
open not long after we were there and, if her other ventures are anything to go by, it
should become the place to stay in Port Mathurin.
