BEST GOLF COURSES
No leisure island would be complete without a handful of world-class golf courses and Mauritius has some fine
examples of the genre, many of which are the preserve of five-star resorts. Our favourite fairways include:
» Mauritius Gymkhana Club ( Click here ), Vacoas - the oldest course in the Indian Ocean
» Four Seasons Resort at Anahita ( Click here ), Trou d'Eau Douce - course designed by Ernie Els
» Le Touessrok ( Click here ), Trou d'Eau Douce - on idyllic Île aux Cerfs
» Le Saint Géran ( Click here ), Belle Mare - on the east coast
» Tamarina ( Click here ) , Tamarin - magnificent complex on the west coast
» Domaine de Bel Ombre ( Click here ), Bel Ombre - perfectly maintained course along the south coast
Spas
Most of Mauritius' top-end resorts have an on-site spa, but if you're looking for a unique
pampering experience try the Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio.

Sleeping
The sandy beaches of Belle Mare and Palmar provide sea frontage for a long string of up-
market hotels, each one an opulent attempt to outdo the next. In addition to the endless
row of top-end resorts, vacationers will be delighted to find a cache of stately seaside vil-
las.
Most resorts should be booked well in advance through a travel agent - the public rates
(listed here) can cause the eyes to water.
