option in town (and the only one that has any real sense of nightlife), Les Copains
d'Abord occupies an enviable position along the seafront promenade on the south side of
town. Tasty Mauritian dishes (think fresh seafood curry, flavourful rougaille saucisses or
wild boar ribs in Rodrigues honey), smart decor and frequent fits of live music will help
you quickly forget that the menu is at times overpriced.

Getting There & Away
Mahébourg is an important transport hub. There are express buses every half-hour to/from
Port Louis (Rs 35, two hours), from where there are connections to Grand Baie and other
destinations. Most but not all of these buses stop at the airport en route; check before
boarding. A shuttle to Blue Bay runs roughly every 30 minutes.
Buses running north from Mahébourg go to Centre de Flacq via Vieux Grand Port every
20 minutes or so. Heading south, there are less frequent services to Souillac via Rivière
des Anguilles.
A taxi for the 15-minute hop from SSR international airport to Mahébourg costs Rs
500. You'll pay Rs 1500 to reach Port Louis, Rs 1500 to reach Flic en Flac and Rs 1300
for Belle Mare.
Getting Around
You'll find a variety of local car renters who also offer rides to the airport nearby. Your
accommodation can hook you up with a vehicle.
