Getting There & Around
Mahébourg is the main transport hub in this region, with buses departing from here for
destinations along both the east and south coasts. The Mahébourg-Blue Bay area is also
the best place to arrange car and bike hire.
Useful bus services include a route from Souillac to Curepipe and Port Louis, and from
Baie du Cap up the west coast to Quatre Bornes.
If you're staying in the south or southeast of the island, we recommend one taxi driver
in particular - Youssah ( 254 1731). Good for short hops to the airport or multiday ex-
cursions around the island, he's a friendly chap, an unusually careful driver and always
cheaper than the drivers that wait all day outside the larger hotels.
