Largely the domain of five-star properties (rumours are sprouting that a 'six-star' resort is
in the works), the fan-shaped swath of sand below the looming Le Morne Brabant is a
wonderful place to spend your days on Mauritius if you're looking for a lazy beach holi-
day. You will need to rent a private vehicle (or pay taxis for day excursions) to get around.

Another ravishing
Beachcomber beauty, with a sprawling campus of 172 suites. It was named for the first
moniker given to the island by Arab merchants in the 10th century. Rated 'five-star plus'
- and it lives up to the expectations.
Getting There & Away
Buses en route between Quatre Bornes and Baie du Cap stop on the main road by the
junction for Le Morne. These buses run roughly every hour. A taxi from Port Louis to the
Le Morne hotels costs Rs 1700; figure on Rs 1900 to the airport, Rs 1500 to Flic en Flac
and Rs 2400 to Belle Mare.
