In-Depth Information
some, it may feel like the resort is starting to show its age, but to most visitors, La Pirogue
represents a classic paradigm of Mauritius' beachside hospitality.

With
gorgeous views from the beachside pool out onto Tamarin Bay and towards Le Morne,
this sophisticated yet unpretentious option enjoys an airy, tropical elegance which per-
meates the open, timber-frame lobby. The bedrooms sport subtle earthy tones, generous
bathrooms and sea-view balconies. There are two restaurants, a spa and plenty of sports
activities, including a dive centre. Highly recommended.

HOLIDAY RENTALS
Flic en Flac trumps all of the island's other beach towns when it comes to cheap holiday rentals. None of the op-
tions are located directly on the beach as the coastal road cuts a line between development and the sandy shore,
but there are still plenty of beach views to be had.
The most popular rental operator in the area,
Jet-7
( 453 9600, 467 7735;

) , manages a
handful of expansive multi-unit properties, including the Datier, Tamarinier, Latanier and Grenadier complexes.
