matter how much you order it rarely jumps above Rs 70 for a filling meal, although drinks
are extra. The small shopfront is just across the road from the beach, ideal for takeaway.

This basic
but sweet place down Trou aux Biches Rd has a pleasant outdoor feel, with lots of tables
on the terrace (although sadly it's on a rather busy road). The menu is Mauritian, featuring
mostly seafood, noodles and curries.

Bollywood Curry
serves out-of-this-world curries in uberbasic surrounds (think buzzing neon bulbs and
cracked tiles) - it doesn't get more authentic than this! Kormas, biryanis and masalas are
all there plus a few surprises. Coming from Grand Baie along the M2 and A4, it's around
500m on the left after the Mont Choisy turn-off.

This popular South African-run spot serves up an excellent assortment of dishes from
around the world - burgers, curries and sandwiches are mainstays but the highlights are
fresh fish and South African steaks that are so good we would (and, on at least one occa-
sion, did) cross the island just to try one. It's all watched over by friendly Deon (a former
bodyguard for Nelson Mandela), and there's a clothes shop and second-hand bookshop as
well.

This fabulous place in warm terracotta hues is the work of Italians Antonio and Gi-
ulia. The food includes pasta and seafood with an emphasis on fresh local produce - the
menu changes daily.
