( 202 4900; www.lesuffrenhotel.com ; Le Caudan Waterfront; r from €188; ) Le Suffren is the
trendier sister hotel to the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, just a short complimentary
boat ride away. For better or for worse you feel like you're almost out of the city despite
being just a couple of minutes from the waterfront. The rooms are smaller than at the La-
bourdonnais but the place has a very pleasant, convivial feel, with an excellent bar and
restaurant.

gâteaux piments (spicy cakes) and dhal puri (lentil pancakes). The general rule of thumb
is to queue behind the longest line - gossip travels fast and everyone seems to simultan-
eously know who's serving up the best stall grub.

any of the restaurants in Chinatown, but this one is a favourite for its commitment to high-
