There are several guesthouses in and around town to choose from, most of which have de-
cent restaurants. Nightlife is relegated to a few cafe-bars on the main street.

This cosy guesthouse has six traditional-style rooms, 600m up from the main square (it's
signposted). The restaurant is one of the best in town, and guests can hire mountain bikes
for 7 lv per day.

Hotel Castle Cottage $$

ing not far from the fortress entrance, Castle Cottage is built in solid wood-and-stone tra-
ditional style. It offers one comfortable bedroom and two maisonettes, each individually
designed, a log fire in winter and outdoor hot-tubs in summer.

) This modern four-star place in the town centre has the best rooms and facilities
in Belogradchik, with a spa, gym, restaurant and appealing terrace bar. Prices rise slightly
at weekends.

Drakite Guesthouse $

ful English-speaking local who also organises fishing trips and transport, the guesthouse is
600m down from the Kaleto entrance and offers five basic rooms, two of which are en
suite. The whole house can be rented for 175 lv per day.

Restaurant Elit $
( 64 558; ul Yuri Gagarin 2; mains 4-6 lv; 9am-midnight) Elit is the only dedicated
restaurant in town and offers a variety of traditional Bulgarian dishes. It's a steep 600m
walk up ul Vasil Levski and then off to the left.
