treks (several marked hiking trails exist) along the river road towards Ledenika Cave (

mountain cliffs that straddle the road.
Sleeping & Eating
HOTEL
Hotel Hemus $$
( 624 150; www.hotelhemus.com ; pl Hristo Botev 1; s/d 50/60 lv; ) This
new three-star business hotel dominates the main square. Rooms are sparsely furnished
but comfortable, and are reasonably priced for the central location. There's a small pool
and a restaurant.
Hotel Chaika $
( 621 369; www.chaika.net ; at the gorge; d 42-62 lv, ste 68-154 lv; ) The spec-
tacular location at the mouth of the gorge is certainly appealing, the restaurant is excellent,
and there's even a small boating-lake for guests. Sadly, the musty rooms with their hard,
creaky beds let it down somewhat. It's about 2km out of town - a taxi from the bus/train
station costs from 2 to 4 lv.
HOTEL
INTERNATIONAL
Trakiiska Printsesa $
(bul Nikola Voyvodov 12; mains 3-8 lv; ) On Vratsa's main pedestrian street, this is a
pleasant place for a variety of light meals. Salads, risottos, fish and pasta dishes are
served. The chicken fettuccine is very good.
Pizza Corona $
(ul Targovska 2; pizzas 7-10 lv; ) Facing the main square, Corona offers a big menu of
pizzas, as well as pasta dishes and salads.
