Getting There & Away
Air
Bulgaria Air links Burgas Airport ( 870 248; www.bourgas-airport.com ; 15) ,
10km northeast of town, with Sofia three times every day (April to October). In summer,
Wizz Air ( www.wizzair.com ) connects Burgas with London Luton, Budapest, Prague and
Warsaw. Other carriers fly to destinations in Germany and Russia.
Bus
Yug bus station (cnr ul Aleksandrovska & ul Bulair) , outside the train station at the
southern end of ul Aleksandrovska, is where most travellers will arrive or leave. There are
regular buses to coastal destinations. Departures are less frequent outside summer.
Sozopol (4.50 lv, 40 minutes, every 30 minutes)
Nesebâr (6 lv, 40 minutes, every 30 to 40 minutes)
Sunny Beach (Slânchev Bryag; 6 lv, 45 minutes, every 30 to 40 minutes)
Primorsko (7 lv, one hour, every 30 minutes)
Kiten (8 lv, one hour, every one to 1½ hours)
Tsarevo (9 lv, two hours, several daily)
Pomorie (3 lv, 25 minutes, every one to 1½ hours)
Sinemorets (13 lv, 2½ to three hours, one daily)
Sofia (30 lv, seven to eight hours, several daily)
Plovdiv (17 lv, four hours, several daily)
Varna (14 lv, two hours, every 30 to 40 minutes)
A number of agencies around Yug bus station, including Union-Ivkoni ( 840 986),
run coaches to Istanbul each day (55 lv, seven hours). Nışıklı Turızm ( 841 261; ul Bu-
lair) has several daily departures (55 to 60 lv) from outside its office. Union-Ivkoni also
runs daily buses to destinations in Greece, including Thessaloniki (80 lv, 13 hours).
From the less convenient Zapad bus station ( 20 521; ul Maritsa 2) , 2km northwest
of pl Troikata, buses leave for Malko Târnovo (7.50 lv, three hours, four or five daily) in
the Strandzha Nature Park and Veliko Târnovo (25 lv, four hours, three daily). Take city
bus 4 from Yug bus station to get there.
