This giant glassy structure 10 minutes by foot from the square has the
town's poshest rooms, though the attached lounge-bar is rather Vegas and even the elevat-
or floor is glittery. But it's undeniably great value, with big, well-decorated rooms and
gleaming baths.

The
price drop at this welcoming place some 3km from Sliven's centre (and about 1km from
the chairlift) makes it a great find. The Imperia has sophisticated, colourful rooms with in-
dividual character and decor, along with exemplary bathrooms. With a swimming pool
and tennis courts, it's a good option for those with transport and concentrating on Sliven's
outdoor attractions.

Once an 18th-century residence, the Toma is a small guesthouse (with a big and
sometimes loud adjoining restaurant) up on a side street north of the square. The decor
ranges from animal-trophy to ornate woodcarvings. Rooms on the upper floor are slightly
more spacious than the ground-floor ones, but bathrooms are cramped in both cases.
Try for room 4, which has an ornate painted cupola and 18th-century hand-carved
wooden ceiling.
