December
The month begins with a national holiday on the 1st and then descends into cold and
darkness. By mid-month, the sun is all but gone by 4.30pm each day. Christmas
brings welcome relief, with parties, festivals and markets.
WINTER FESTIVAL
Sighetu MarmaĊ£iei's undisputed annual highpoint comes just after Christmas, featuring
food, music, masks and a colourful oxen parade.
