Getting There & Away
Putna is the furthest Bucovina monastery from Suceava, but reasonably close (28km
northwest) to Rădăuţi. The latter gets 13 daily buses from Suceava (8 lei, 45 minutes). Al-
ternately, from Suceava, three or four daily trains make the three-hour trip to Putna (49
lei).
Câmpulung Moldovenesc
Situated at 621m, placid Câmpulung Moldovenesc dates from the 14th century. It's known
for logging, fairs and outdoor sports - particularly cross-country and downhill skiing in
winter (a short 800m ski slope employs a chairlift) and its annual winter sports festival oc-
curs on the last Sunday in January.

friendly service. Zimbru's tourist office assists with monastery and horse-riding tours.
Câmpulung Moldovenesc is a good base for hiking the Rarău Massif, 15km south.
