region, but is suited more to enthusiasts than the general public.

With a litany of shiny attributes including wi-fi, pool, sauna, fitness centre, bar, res-
taurant and bowling, this is good value. That said, it's on the main road, so ask for one of
its modern rooms at the back.

Despite
the geometrical confusion of its ugly exterior, Mara has a graceful lobby with studded
leather chairs, and a pleasant, low-lit bar. En-suite rooms are tight but pleasantly finished
in old-world furniture. You can also get a massage here (35 lei, one hour).
