Getting There & Away
Bus
A small bus station (autogara; 0259-418 998; Str Râzboieni 81) is situated 2km south
of the centre. From here you can catch frequent maxitaxis and regular buses to Băile Felix
(4 lei, 10 minutes), Ştei (for access to Bear Cave; 13 lei, two hours) and Arieşeni (24 lei,
three hours).
There's a small maxitaxi stand north of the train station for services to cities north of
Oradea, such as Baia Mare (38 lei, three hours).
Train
Oradea's train station ( 0259-414 970; www.cfr.ro ; Calea Republicii 114) is 2km
north of the centre. Daily fast trains from Oradea include Budapest (150 lei, five hours,
one daily), a slow overnight to Bucharest (about 105 lei, 12 hours), Cluj-Napoca (43 lei,
three hours, six daily), Braşov (60 lei, nine hours, two daily) and Timişoara (47 lei, three
hours, five daily).
Băile Felix
Băile Felix, 5km southeast of Oradea, is a summer oasis, with huge open-air kid-friendly
swimming pools, with the water warmed by thermal springs. It's close enough to Oradea
for an easy day trip, and the pools provide welcome relief if you get caught in a midsum-
mer heatwave.

SWIMMING POOL
Strand Felix
( www.bailefelix.net ; adult/child 25/12 lei; 8am-7pm Mon, 8am-8pm Tue-Sun May-
Oct) The largest and most popular of the resort's two main public pools, located just bey-
ond the Strand Apollo, near the Staţia Băile Felix bus stop. The Felix has water slides and
attracts families and kids.
