The bus station ( 0265-237 774; Str Gheorghe Doja) sends daily bus and maxitaxi
services, including hourly maxitaxis to Sighişoara (11 lei, 1½ hours), continuing on to
Braşov (35 lei, four hours) and Bucharest (58 lei, seven hours). There are also five daily
buses to Bistriţa (14 lei, 2½ hours), three to Budapest (90 lei), five to Cluj-Napoca (25 lei,
2½ hours), two to Sibiu (15 lei, three hours), and frequent services to Sovata (10 lei, 1¼
hours).
The Agenţia de Voiaj CFR ( 0265-236 284; Train Station; 24hr) sells advance
tickets. From Târgu Mureş there are two daily trains to Bucharest (85 lei, 8½ hours) and
Sibiu (27 lei, 5½ hours), and one each to Budapest (160 lei, 7½ hours), Cluj-Napoca (38
lei, 2¼ hours), Iaşi (20 lei, 6½ hours) and Timişoara (70 lei, 6½ hours).
Getting Around
Central Târgu Mureş is small enough to cover by foot. Bus 18 (1.5 lei) goes from the stop
at Piaţa Teatrul and Piaţa Trandafirilor to the bus station; bus 5 goes to the train station. A
taxi to or from the airport is about 30 lei.

cars, including the Fiat Panda (from 175 lei per day); hire it for longer and the price drops
sharply.
