The most accessible station is Bus Station 1 (Autogara 1; 0268-427 267) , next to
the train station, for maxitaxis and long-distance buses.
From 6am to 7.30pm maxitaxis leave every half-hour for Bucharest (30 lei, 2½ hours),
stopping in Buşteni and Sinaia. About four or five maxitaxis leave for Sibiu (35 lei, 2½
hours), stopping in Făgăraş town. Nine or 10 go daily to Sighişoara (30 lei) en route to
Târgu Mureş (40 lei, four to five hours). A handful of buses go to Bistriţa (33 lei, seven to
eight hours), Constanţa (55 lei) and Iaşi (35 lei). Buses also head to Hărman (3 lei, 20
minutes).
A few daily buses to Sfântu Gheorghe (6 lei, 45 minutes) leave from a parking lot on
the opposite side of the train station from Autogara 1. Look for the tiny blue sign 'Braşov-
Sfantu Gheorghe'.
Nearly hourly buses go to Prejmer (4 lei, 30 minutes), which confusingly stop at the in-
tersection 100m to the right (west) of the train station as you face away from the entrance.
Catch it across the street from Restaurant Făget.
Bus 51 reaches the centre from the train station (prepurchase your ticket). From the
centre, hail a bus at the corner of Str Nicolae Bălcescu and Str Gherea.
Bus Station 2 (Autogara 2; 0268-426 332; Str Avram Iancu 114) , 1km northwest of
the train station, sends half-hourly buses marked 'Moieciu-Bran' to Râşnov (3 lei, 25
minutes) and Bran (6 lei, 40 minutes) from roughly 6.30am to 11.30pm, Take bus 12 to/
from the centre (it stops at the roundabout just north of the station). A dozen daily buses
go to Zărneşti (6 lei, one hour)
The main bus stop in town is the 'Livada Posţei' at the western end of B-dul Eroilor in
front of the County Library (Biblioteca Judeţeană). From here bus 20 goes half-hourly to
Poiana Braşov (4 lei, 20 minutes). Buy your ticket from the kiosk opposite the Student
Culture House before boarding.
All European routes are handled by Eurolines ( TUI Travel; 0268-475 219;
www.eurolines.ro ; Piaţa Sfatului 18; 9am-8pm Mon-Fri, to 4pm Sat) , which sells tick-
ets for buses to Germany, Italy, Hungary and other European destinations.
Train
The train station is 2km northeast of the town centre, past grey block-housing neighbour-
hoods. Advance tickets are sold at the Agenţia de Voiaj CFR office ( 0268-477 015;
Str 15 de Noiembre 43; 8am-7.30pm Mon-Fri) .
