There's no tourist information office and local travel agencies are more intent on getting
Romanians out than helping visitors find their way around town.

couchettes. Can help sort out international connections.

Getting There & Away
Air
Craiova Airport (Aeroportul Craiova; 251-416 860; www.aeroportcraiova.ro ; Calea
Bucureşti 325) is situated 8km east of the centre along the main highway (E70) to
Bucharest. The budget carrier Carpatair ( 0251-435 566; www.carpatair.com ;
Craiova Airport; 6am-6pm) is part of Craiova's network of flights, servicing destina-
tions across Europe, but flights usually require a change of planes in Timişoara.
Bus
The main bus station (Autogara; 0251-411 187; B-dul Carol I 1) , about 50m to the
left as you exit the train station, appears at first glance like utter anarchy, but is actually
well organised. Regular maxitaxis leave from here to Bucharest (around 40 lei, hourly).
There are also regular bus services to Timişoara (40 lei) and Drobeta-Turnu Severin (20
lei), among other cities.
Train
All fast trains between Bucharest and Timişoara stop at Craiova's train station
( www.cfr.ro ; B-dul Carol I) . Services include trains to Bucharest (50 lei, three hours, 12
daily), Timişoara (50 lei, five hours, seven daily), Drobeta-Turnu Severin (33 lei, two
hours) and Târgu Jiu (33 lei, two hours).
