Getting Around
To/From the Airport
BUS
To get to Henri Coandă International Airport from the centre, take bus 783, which leaves
every 15 minutes between 5.37am and 11.23pm (every half-hour at weekends) from Piaţas
Unirii and Piaţas Victoriei and points in between. The Piaţa Unirii stop is on the south
side.
Buy a ticket, valid for one round trip or two people one way, for 7 lei at any RATB bus-
ticket booth near a bus stop. Once inside the bus remember to feed the ticket into the
stamping machine. Henri Coandă International Airport is 45 to 60 minutes from the
centre, depending on traffic. The bus stops outside the departures hall then continues to ar-
rivals.
To get to the centre from Henri Coandă, catch bus 783 from the downstairs ramp out-
side the arrivals hall; you'll need to buy a ticket from the stand at the north end of the
waiting platform (to the right as you exit).
TAXI
Taking a reputable taxi from the centre to Henri Coandă International Airport should cost
no more than 70 lei. The company Fly Taxi monopolises airport transfers to the centre,
though at 3.30 lei per kilometre, they're the most expensive. To find a cheaper cab, exit
the airport at the arrivals area (push your way through the legions of touts), cross the street
and then enter the parking lot. This is where the cheaper cabs line up. Look for prices on
the door (about 1.40 to 1.80 lei per kilometre) or agree on a fixed price.
TRAIN
There's a regular shuttle train service (8 lei, 35 minutes) from Gara de Nord to Henri
Coandă International Airport (Otopeni). The trains leave hourly at 10 minutes past the
hour, starting at 8.10am and continuing until 7.10pm.
