ROMANIA
Crossing the bridge from Giurgiu in Romania into Ruse will incur a toll of €6 (12 lv) per
vehicle. Crossing in the opposite direction, from Ruse, costs €2 (4 lv). You are not permit-
ted to cross at Giurgiu without transport.
Private taxis across the border from Ruse to Bucharest cost around 90 lv.
The new road and rail bridge (known as 'Danube Bridge 2') between Vidin and Calafat
in Romania should be operational from mid-2013.
Train
Bulgarian International train services are operated by Bulgarian State Railways.

MACEDONIA
At present, no trains travel directly between Bulgaria and Macedonia. The only way to
Skopje by train from Sofia is to get a connection in Niš (Serbia).
A rail line linking Sofia and Skopje was being planned at the time of research, but no
completion date had been announced.
ROMANIA
Most visitors travel to/from Romania by train and either depart from or travel through
Ruse.

SERBIA
The Balkan Express (trains 490 and 491) travels between Belgrade and Istanbul, via Sofia.
Trains 292 and 293 travel just between Belgrade and Sofia. The price for the journey
between Belgrade and Sofia is about 60 lv on both trains.
TURKEY
At the time of writing, trains stop at Kapikule on the Turkish border, where a replacement
bus service connects to Istanbul. The full train service should resume in late 2013.
The daily Bosfor (trains 498 and 499) travels through Bulgaria, between Bucharest and
Istanbul, stopping at Ruse along the way.
