your custom standard as well.
In this chapter, you will learn to use
DimXpert
tools to add GD&T information to parts.
There are many ways to add GD&T information and full-define the parts and assemblies.
There are few methods explained in this chapter but you need to use a method, which is
most suitable to your design.
The DimXpert tools are available on the
DimXpert
Command Manager. If the
DimXpert
CommandManager is not displayed by default, you can customize it. Right click on any of
the tabs of the CommandManager and select
DimXpert
from the shortcut menu.
TUTORIAL 1 (Auto Dimension Scheme)
This tutorial teaches you to apply tolerances using the
Auto Dimension Scheme
tool. This
tool automates the process of adding dimensions and tolerances to the 3D model.
1.
Download the DimXpert part files from the Companion website and open the
Tutorial 1 file.

On the Quick Access Toolbar, click the
Options
icon to open the
System Op-
tions
dialog.

Click the
Document Properties
tab and select
Drafting Standard
from the
tree.
4.
Set the
Overall drafting standard
to ISO.
5.
Click
OK
.
6.
On the CommandManager, click
DimXpert > Auto Dimension Scheme
.
7.
On the PropertyManager, set the
Part type
to
Prismatic
. This option is selected
for the parts that have planar faces. The
Turned
option can be used for cyl-
indrical shaped parts.
8.
Set the
Tolerance type
to
Plus and Minus
.
