Lights are very important in rendering a photorealistic image. They can enhance the image
to look more realistic by highlighting some portions and creating shadows. You can access
the lights on the DisplayManager tree. Click the
DisplayManager
tab, and then click
View
Scene, Lights, and Cameras
. Expand the
SOLIDWORKS Lights
folder and notice
the default lights available in the SOLIDWORKS environment. Expand the
PhotoView
360 Lights
folder and notice the lights available in PhotoView 360. You can turn ON/OFF
lights in PhotoView 360 by right clicking on them and selecting
On in PhotoView 360
.
Editing the Ambient Light
By default, the Ambient light is created is the SOLIDWORKS environment, automatically.
The Ambient light falls on the model from all directions.
1.
Open the Tutorial 9 file.
2.
In the
View Scene, Lights, and Cameras
tree, expand the
SOLIDWORKS
Lights
folder, and double click on
Ambient
.
3.
On the PropertyManager, click the
Edit Color
button, select the red color from
the Color dialog, and click
OK
. Notice that the red light falls on the model.
4.
Drag the
Ambient
dragger to change the intensity of the light (or) type-in a
value between 0 and 1 in the
Ambient
box.
5.
On the PropertyManager, uncheck the
On in SOLIDWORKS
option and no-
tice the difference in the graphics window.
6.
Check the
On in SOLIDWORKS
option to turn ON the ambient light.
7.
Click
OK
to apply changes to the model.
