Click the
Advanced
tab, and then click the
Surface Finish
tab.

Select the
Knurled
option from the
Surface Finish
drop-down. You can also
select the
From file
option and specify an image file to define the surface finish.

Knurl angle
and
Knurl height cap
boxes, and notice

to 90 and 1, respectively.

. The knurled surface finish will be visible in the rendered image.
SOLIDWORKS will process the bright areas of the texture image as height and
the dark areas as depths.
Tutorial 6 (Illumination)
1.
Open the Tutorial 5 file.
2.
Click on anyone of the face of the geometry and select
Edit Appearance > Re-
volve
.
3.
On the Task Pane, select
Appearance > Metal > Steel
.
4.
Select
machined steel
from the lower portion of the Task pane.
5.
Click the
Advanced
tab on the PropertyManager.
6.
Click the
Illumination
tab and check the
Dynamic help
option. The options on
the
Illumination
tab control the illumination of the geometry.
7.
Place the pointer on the edit boxes, and notice the descriptions.
8.
Modify the values on the
Illumination
tab and notice the change in the graphics
window.
9.
Click
OK
.
