Joel Bicalho Tostes, who, in collaboration with the da Cunha scholar Adelino Brandão, produced the
1990 Aguas de amargura as a counterpoint to the narrative supplied by Judith. They supplied some
damning documents, including Ana's birth certificate showing she was four years older than she
claimed (and with a lover seventeen years her junior a little fudging on age is certainly understandable)
and accounts from the Bazaar America.
