SNOW ACTIVITIES
The few ski resorts in Haute-Provence are refreshingly low-key. Slopes are best suited to
beginner and intermediate skiers and costs are lower than in the Northern Alps.
Resorts include the lovely Pra Loup (straddled between 1500m and 1600m) and the
concrete-block Isola 2000 (2450m), with direct bus services to Nice (just €2 return).
They offer the usual skiing and snow boarding but snow shoeing is increasingly popular
too, notably amongst smaller (and lower altitude) resorts where you can track wildlife in
snow-covered forests.
The ski season runs from December to March/April (depending on the snow conditions).
Buying a package is the cheapest way to ski and/or snow board. Otherwise allow €25 to
€30 for a daily lift pass, and about the same again for equipment rental.
