Ferry
Ferries connect coastal communities and offshore islands, notably to/from St-Tropez and
St-Raphaël, Port Grimaud and Ste-Maxime in warmer months (generally April to Octo-
ber).
Yacht
One of Europe's largest ports de plaisance (pleasure ports) is Port Vauban, Antibes.
Yachts - with or without crew - can be hired at most marinas, including sailing centres
at Ste-Maxime and Le Lavandou. For a list of yacht harbours: www.cotedazur-tour-

For up-to-date marina or harbour-master information, contact Fédération Française
des Ports de Plaisance (FFPP;

Bus
Services and routes are extremely limited in rural areas, where buses primarily transport
school children. Bus transport is useful only if you have no car, and the trains don't go
where you want, but you may get stuck until the next day. Read schedules carefully. Tour-
ist offices always have schedules.
Autocars (regional buses) are operated by multiple companies, which have offices at
gares routière s (bus stations) in larger towns. One company usually sells tickets for all
buses departing from that station.
INTERPRETING SCHEDULES
Transport schedules use abbreviations. The most common:
tlj (tous les jours) daily
