In-Depth Information
The valley is delineated by two east-west-trending mountain ranges. On the southern
side, the Luberon Mountains are split down the middle by the Combe de Lourmarin gorge,
dividing the craggy Petit Luberon in the west from the higher, densely forested Grand
Luberon mountains. On the northern side, the Vaucluse Mountains buffer mistral winds,
sheltering famous hilltop villages like Gordes and Rousillon, famous for ochre landscapes.
