Car & Motorcycle
Find car-hire agencies at train stations (reserve ahead, especially in July). Narrow, one-
way streets and impossible parking make driving within the ramparts difficult: park out-
side the walls. The city has 900 free spaces at
Parking de L'Ile Piot
, and 1150 at Parking
des Italiens, both under surveillance and served by free shuttle bus (hours at TCRA (

). On directional signs at intersections, 'P' in yellow means pay lots; 'P' in
green, free lots.
Train
Avignon has two train stations.
Gare Avignon TGV
, 4km southwest in Courtine; and
Gare Avignon Centre
(42 bd St-Roch)
, with multiple daily services to/from: Arles
(€6.50, 20 minutes), Orange (€5.50, 22 minutes), Nîmes (€8.50, 30 minutes), Marseille
Airport (Vitrolles Station, €16, one to 1½ hours)
Some TGVs to/from Paris (€75, 3½ hours) stop at Gare Avignon Centre, but TGVs to/
from Marseille (€29, 35 minutes) and Nice (€52.50, 3¼ hours) only use Gare TGV. From
