GARDEN
( 04 94 58 07 24; chemin du Phare; 9.30am-12.30pm & 2-6pm Feb-Oct)
This wonderful ornamental garden is planted with magnificent palm varieties, cypress,
vanilla and grenadier trees, cactus and bamboo, sweetly scented jasmine, and every herb
known to grow under the Provençal sun. It's also home to the Parc National de Port-Cros
Maison du Parc ( Click here ) .
Beaches
Porquerolles' northern coast is laced with beautiful sandy beaches, including Plage de la
Courtade , a mere 800m walk east from the port (follow the track uphill behind the tourist
office). Porquerolles' largest and most beautiful beach, Plage de Notre Dame , is 2.5km
further east along the same track.
West of the village, Plage d'Argent , a good 2km along a potholed track past vineyards,
is popular with families because of its summer beachside cafe-restaurant, lifeguards and
toilets.
More secluded is Plage du Langoustier , a former lobster farm 4.5km from the village
on the northern shores of the Presqu'île du Langoustier.
Cliffs line the island's more dangerous southern coast, where swimming and diving is
restricted to Calanque du Brégançonnet to the east and Calanque de l'Oustaou de
Diou to the west.
