Although St-Paul has a good selection of hotels, we have also listed here a couple of op-
tions in the pretty village of La Colle-sur-Loup, a mere five minutes' drive from St Paul.
Les Cabanes d'Orion €€€
B&B
( 06 75 45 18 64; www.orionbb.com ; Impasse des Peupliers, 2436 chemin du Mal-
van, St-Paul de Vence; d €260; ) Dragonflies flit above water lilies in the
emerald-green swimming pool (filtered naturally), while guests slumber amid a chorus of
frogs and cicadas in luxurious cedar-wood treehouses perched in the trees at this enchant-
ing, ecofriendly B&B. Children are well catered for with mini- cabanes in two of the tree-
houses. There is a minimum three-night stay from April to October.
In winter, Orion offers special cocooning packages, with sauna sessions and gourmet
baskets complete with organic hot meals and champagne for a cosy night in.
La Forge €€
( 04 93 89 73 34; www.laforgedhauterives.com ; 44 rue Yves Klein, La Colle sur Loup;
d €115-170; ) It seems hard to believe that this exquisite maison d'hôte , with its
beautiful stone walls and romantic decor, was once a forge. Anne and Patrick have turned
the 18th-century building at the heart of La Colle sur Loup into a delicious Provençal halt:
opt for Bois de Charme or Bois d'Amarante for their gorgeous terraces.
