look and a new spa to boot. Rooms are spacious and bright, and the decor is the same
throughout: a palette of beige and burgundy. Families are well catered for with communic-

The belle époque facade and period features of Le Cavendish will delight those in search
of historic charm. Rooms are definitely modern in comfort but classic in looks, with pastel
shades and heavy fabrics. The hotel is located on a busy boulevard - light sleepers, ask for
a room at the back.

Most private beaches have restaurants: they come into their own on sunny days but you'll
definitely pay for the privilege of eating les pieds dans l'eau (by the sea). Among the bet-

fish or meat, or a gourmet salad.

of the Five Hotel, the Sea Sens is Cannes' latest food sensation. Run by the brilliant
Pourcel brothers, with pastry-chef wonder Jérôme de Oliveira in charge of desserts, it
serves divine food blending French gastronomy and Asian elegance, with panoramic
views of Le Suquet and Cannes' rooftops on the side. De Oliveira's signature dessert,
'Onde de Choc', a pear-shaped chocolate tower filled with chocolate and praline, is
simply out of this world. Come here for lunch to make the best of the great-value menus.
