Les Baux de Provence
8 At the heart of the Alpilles, amid hills tumbling with vineyards, olive trees and orch-
ards, Les Baux de Provence ( Click here ) sits spectacularly perched on a rocky
promontory. The village is best known for its ruined château, a rambling, evocative place,
full of medieval weaponry, with fantastic panoramas. Foodies will no doubt know the place
for its divine olive oil, the quality of which is protected under the sought-after Huile et
Olives de la Vallée des Baux (AOP olives and oil from the Baux Valley label).
