Roquebrune
The medieval half of the town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Roquebrune sits 300m high on
a pudding-shaped lump. The village is delightful, free of tacky souvenir shops. The

dates back to the 10th century. It's an
atmospheric place, with simple but evocative props of life in medieval times and the audio
guide (available in English) is fascinating.
Of all Roquebrune's steep and tortuous streets,
rue Moncollet
, with its arcaded pas-
sages and stairways carved out of rock, is the most impressive. Architect Le Corbusier is
buried in the
cemetery
at the top of the village (in section J - he designed his tombstone
before he died).

should make a beeline for this sensational hotel on the shores of Cap Martin. Here,
everything from the frescoes in the stunning white and blue rooms to the custom-made
furniture draws from the designers' influences. All rooms are on the 1st floor and those
facing the sea have balconies.
The lobby and restaurant also feature original furniture and lithographies. The hotel is
located right next to the bus 100 stop (going to Menton, Monaco and Nice) and just 500m
from the Carnolès train station (on the Nice-Ventimille route).

This gorgeous boutique hotel on the village square is a gem. Rooms 1 and 2 steal the
show with their heart-stopping views of the Med, but the other eight rooms hold their
own, with exquisite decor (themed, but gradually being replaced by a uniform but equally
gorgeous pastel boutique interior). A bargain considering the location and standards.
