promised to be back with a bang, with the same American sports-bar atmosphere.

iscent of old-school cabarets, with its shiny bar counter, lacquered grand piano (live jazz

with fluoro lights and chrome counter, is funky. DJs start playing around 10pm. Dress
code is smart-casual.

The Grimaldis have a long tradition of art patronage. Even back in the 18th century, the
palace regularly opened its doors to offer music performances to its subjects.

watching the poker-faced gamble in Monte Carlo's grand marble-and-gold casino ( Click
here ) makes the stiff admission fees, stakes and obligatory cloakroom 'tips' almost bear-
able. To enter the casino, you must be at least 18.
The Salon Europe has English and European roulette and 30/40; the Salons Privés of-
fer European roulette, blackjack and chemin de fer. A jacket and tie are required to enter
the Salons Privés and the Salon Ordinaire in the evening.
