Why Go?
There may only be 30km between Nice and Menton, but what kilometres! Nice, with its at-
mospheric old town, great architectural heritage (from baroque to belle époque), fantastic
nightlife and excellent restaurants is everyone's favourite city. As you head east, the
Grande and Moyenne Corniches (coastal roads) will wow you with their mesmerising
views of the Mediterranean, while the lower Corniche snakes along the shores from pretty
beach to belle époque folly. Monaco will elicit mixed reactions: the concrete jungle won't
be for everyone but this unique country, complete with scandal-prone monarchy, throngs of
VIPs and casino glamour, endlessly fascinates: come and form your own opinion! And if it
makes you run for the hills, what better place than the Arrière-Pays Niçois, an area of stark
beauty so isolated that even the Niçois come here for mini-breaks.
