comer serves good-value food in a laidback, modern setting with a hint of faded glamour.
Try the tasty club burger (R280). Daily noon-2am, Fri & Sat until 6am.
Dachniki Nevsky prospekt 20; Admiralteyskaya. Laid out in true Russian dacha style with
log cabin-style walls, chintzy curtains and Soviet films running back-to-back on the TV
screen. The traditional food is excellent, from meat pelmeni (meat dumplings; R190) to
vareniki (Ukrainian dumplings with potatoes, cheese or cherries; R140), as well as a range
of soups (R120). Daily noon-1.30/2am.
Fartuk Rubinshteina 15/17; Dostoyevskaya. This family-run place has a welcoming feel,
with its communal wooden table, large open windows and exposed brick walls. The cuisine
is mostly Mediterranean, with mains starting at R210. Thurs-Sat 10am-1am, Sun-Wed
11am-midnight.
Gosti Malaya Morskaya 13 gdegosti.ru ; Admiralteyskaya. Frilly and floral as a grand-
mother's parlour, this ground-floor café-bakery is a great little spot for some traditional Ser-
bianpancakes(R140)whiletheupstairsrestaurantservesinternationaldishesinfourrooms,
including a library and kitchen, set out like a Russian flat. Daily 8am-2am.
Teplo Bol. Morskaya 45; Admiralteyskaya. This gem of a place serves up international
cuisine in a warren of cosy partitioned rooms, some with sofas, that will have you lingering
longer than you intended. Mains R500. Fri & Sat 1pm-1am, Sun-Thurs 9am-midnight.
