place at different times in Liverpool's history.
Mapping Spatial Functions and Spatial Use
The inclusion of data relating to the definition or function of the space
depicted in each film that was available for viewing on the City in Film
database and the information on the way spaces are being used by indi-
viduals and groups that appear in the films allows for analysis of, on the
one hand, the architectural and topographic characteristics of historical
landscapes on film and, on the other, the anthropological and ethno-
graphic qualities atached to speciic urban spaces. Figure 6.6 shows
cinematic geographies of leisure and recreation at three different periods
from the 1900s to the 1970s.
