for 4 h. h e solution was centrifuged and the precipitate was washed with
water. Gold solution, NaOH and functionalized silica particles in water
were stirred at 75 C for 10 min. h ese form the gold seeds with silica par-
ticles. Finally the above solution was centrifuged, washed with water and
redispersed in 40 mL water. Silica-gold seed solution and gold hydroxide
solution were mixed and stirred with NaBH4 [70]. Figure 10.8 represents
SPR peak of Au NPs and SiO 2 @Au core-shell NCs observed at 523 nm and
540 nm. It clearly shows red shit ing in band for SiO 2 @Au core-shell NCs
accompanied with broadening in peak.
