Exploring the Andros Reef
1 Just off the east coast of Andros ( Click here ) lies the world's third-largest barrier reef, a
140-mile stretch of otherworldly coral forest, psychedelic sponge grottoes and eerie hidden
caverns. The reef teems with sea life - schools of parrotfish, spotted moray eels, giant eagle
rays, even the odd sea turtle or shark. On the far side of the reef, the bottom drops dizzyingly
into a 6000ft abyss known as the Tongue of the Ocean. A free-fall into its depths is often
described as the 'dive of a lifetime.'
