PHONE CARDS
Phone cards cost $5, $10 or $15, and can be bought from Cable & Wireless outlets, as well
as from shops and delis. You can also bill calls to your Amex, Discover, MasterCard or
Visa card by dialing 1-800-744-7777 on any touchtone phone and giving the operator
your card details (there's a one-minute minimum).

TRAVELERS WITH DISABILITIES
Some of the larger hotels have rooms that are wheelchair accessible, but it's best to enquire
before arriving.
VISAS
No visas are required for citizens of the US, Canada, UK and Commonwealth countries,
Ireland and most Western European countries. Citizens from elsewhere require visas,
which can be obtained from British representation abroad.
WOMEN TRAVELERS
The Turks and Caicos is a relatively safe place to travel and no special precautions are re-
quired for women travelers.
WORK
Those wishing to work in the Turks and Caicos will need to get a work permit from the
immigration department ( www.immigrationboard.tc ) . See the website for details.
Getting There & Away
ENTERING TURKS & CAICOS
All visitors, including US citizens, need a valid passport to enter the country. Proof of on-
ward transportation is required upon entry, so make sure you have your return flight con-
firmation to show immigration officers if they ask.
AIR
Airports There are three airports handling international traffic to Grand Turk and Provo,
but nearly all international flights arrive at Provo. The Provo airport has a tourist informa-
tion booth in arrivals, car rental offices, a restaurant and not much else. Other islands just
have airstrips with no amenities.
