TURKS ISLANDS
The Turks group comprises Grand Turk and its smaller southern neighbor, Salt Cay, in addi-
tion to several tiny cays. The islands lie east of the Caicos Islands, separated from them by
the 22-mile-wide Turks Island Passage.

Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Taxis meet incoming flights; to Cockburn Town (1 mile north of the airport) costs about $10.
There are no buses, but pre-booked rental cars will meet your plane.
BICYCLE
Most, if not all, hotels on Grand Turk provide bikes for their guests as they are the perfect
way to get around the tiny island. On Salt Cay, Trade Winds Guest Suites (
946-6906;
www.tradewinds.tc ; Victoria St, Salt Cay) will get you pedaling for $15 per day.
BOAT
A ferry runs biweekly from Grand Turk to Salt Cay (round trip $12). Contact Salt Cay
Charters ( 231-6663; piratequeen3@hotmail.com) . Arrangements can also be made
with any of the Grand Turk dive companies to take you over to Salt Cay; costs vary depend-
ing on numbers.
CAR & SCOOTER
Car hire is very simple to arrange on both Grand Turk and Salt Cay. Expect to pay around
$70 per day. All hotels can either arrange car rental or point you in the direction of local
companies.
TAXI
Taxis are an inexpensive and reliable way to get around Grand Turk. A taxi from the airport
to town will cost you about $10 though prices vary according to distance; the entire island
can be reached from the airport for up to $25. Be sure to settle on a price before you head out
as the cabs are unmetered. Your hotel can easily sort you a cab, or call Carl's Taxi Service
