kitchens, outdoor spaces and pointedly have no TV or wireless. Rooms are fan-cooled, hot
water is solar powered and the welcome is warm.
Club Peace & Plenty HOTEL $$$

) Built on the location of a slave market, this plucky hotel in the middle of George Town
has 32 bright, Caribbean-style rooms set around a small pool, bar area and dock. The staff
is very friendly and most rooms have great views towards Stocking Island. Snorkel gear
and sailboards can be rented from Peace & Plenty Beach Club on Stocking Island, which
guests can reach by using the complimentary twice daily ferry.
Minns Cottages COTTAGES $$

ahead for these pristine, fully equipped and tasteful units just north of George Town, though
be aware that it's not possible to rent them for less than a week at a time. The spacious
cottages include an enclosed patio facing the sea (albeit from across the main road) and the
kitchens have coffeemaker, microwave, oven and fridge.
Two Turtles Inn INN $

This stone-and-timber lodge in the heart of George Town has nine rooms that were under-
going a total refit at the time of writing. A Chinese restaurant was due to open shortly, and
two on-site bars make the whole complex something of a local watering spot for the entire
town.
EATING & DRINKING
A choice of groceries (and household goods) can be found at Exuma Markets (
8am-6pm, to 11am Sun) in the town center. The Fish & Fry area (see Click here ), just north
of George Town, has heaps of little eateries and is also worth a visit.
Eddy's Edgewater Club CAFE $
(Queen's Hwy; mains $7-12; 7am-10pm, to midnight Fri & Sat, closed Sun) This very
reliable, friendly and informal restaurant serves up three tasty Bahamian meals a day, in-
cluding changing daily specials. There's a pleasant terrace to sit out on with views over
