Planning a Dive
The Bahamas is a world-class diving destination, with jaw-dropping barrier
reefs, multihued sea life and eerie shipwrecks. Unique Bahamas dive experien-
ces include swimming with wild dolphins and 'wall-dives' - plunges off the
continental shelf into deep ocean trenches. Nassau and Grand Bahama both
have numerous well-regarded outfitters. Many popular dives, especially dolphin
experiences or shark encounters, will sell out well in advance, so it's important
to book ahead. On the Out Islands, dive outfitters are smaller, but are often
highly experienced. Always check for PADI or equivalent accreditation. Many
hotels in popular dive areas offer dive packages, with rates that include accom-
modations and multiple daily dives. Remember, plan your last dive for more
than 24 hours before flying.
