ACTIVITIES
The reefs off the Atlantic side of Elbow Cay are excellent for diving and snorkeling. The
waters near Hope Town and the northern tip of the cay are calmer and are easily reached
by swimming from shore. Staghorn, elkhorn, star and brain coral are abundant.
The offshore waters boast several good surfing breaks on the south Atlantic shore, es-
pecially in the winter. Try Rush Reef or the reef off Garbanzo Beach for some of the Ba-
hamas' best surfing.
Elbow Cay's weeklong, family-oriented Abaco Anglers Tournament (
242-366-0004) in mid-April requires little gear and welcomes all participants, children in-
cluded.
Bonefishing guides will charge from $450/700 per half-/full-day.
