Mangrove Cay
If you're looking to drop off the grid for a while, this is the place. The most rural and isol-
ated chunk of Andros, Mangrove Cay was only blessed with electricity in 1989. The island
hasn't changed much in the past century - kids ride rusty bikes on dirt roads, women carry
banana bundles on their heads, dogs run wild through the underbrush. The island's one set-
tlement, Moxey Town, is a mere handful of wooden houses overlooking the Middle Bight.
So grab a hammock, crack an icy Kalik and let the waves hypnotize you into tranquility.
SIGHTS & ACTIVITIES
Activities on Mangrove Cay mainly run to lounging on the beach and eating bananas. Ask
locals about where to find some of the island's two dozen or so
blue holes
, some hidden
in the underbrush, others just offshore (hint: there's one just off the beach at Seascape Inn;
you can walk there at low tide). Bonefishers should ask at their hotel about guides, who will

Be warned - credit card machines are a rarity here. Most visitors to Mangrove Cay eat at
their accommodations, which are also happy to serve food to nonguests. There's a small
