In-Depth Information
FiGuRe 1.8 First to Fight is a military simulation game.
Computer simulations are still widely used by all branches of the military
and have been embraced by the corporate sector for training employees and by
schools to aid in the classroom. Many industries regularly use simulations to
help train employees including pilots, engineers who operate critical elements
of nuclear facilities, and bio-technicians who routinely work with hazardous
materials, to name a few.
Going electronic
The first electronic game creation is credited to Thomas T. Goldsmith, Jr., and
Estle Ray Mann, who made an interactive missile simulator based on the look of
radar displays from World War II. The gameplay was completely analog and used
a cathode ray tube (CRT) beam that allowed the player to position a dot on the
screen indicating where their missile would strike.
