that you take for granted at other hotels around town (like ice-buckets and alarm
clocks). No pool on site, but guests can use the one a block away at the Plaza
Hotel.
$-$$ The main draw of The Four Queens Hotel & Casino (202 Fremont St., at
Casino Center Blvd.; % 800/634-6045 or 702/385-4011; www.fourqueens.com;
AE, DC, MC, V) is its location at the center of the Fremont Street Experience. That
means that those guests who get even numbered rooms on the 6th floor or below,
will have a view from their windows of the swirling lights and sounds of that
hourly show. Come to think of it, I guess I should state this as a warning as well:
If you stay at the Four Queens, you're probably going to be dealing with the
soundtrack and swirling lights of the Fremont Street Experience, which may be a
negative if you're an early to bed type. (But heck, if you're an early to bed type,
why have you chosen to vacation in Vegas?) Rooms are tidy and pleasant in a
somewhat faceless way; those in the North Tower are older and a bit smaller, but
the elevator in the South Tower is slower, so you'll have to choose your poison.
Average rates run $39 to $59 when it's slow, $99 to $129 otherwise. As at the
majority of other downtown casinos, there's no pool, fitness room or chapel on site,
but the Four Queens does have the nicety of a business center. Also convenient
